The city of Bee Cave is abour 30 minutes west of downtown Austin. Once a tiny town with few residents, Bee Cave has turned into one of the fastest growing parts of Austin for a variety of reasons. Bee Cave is within 5-10 minutes of Lakeway, a town with a population in 2007 of almost 14,000 residents. Bee Cave is also 30 minutes fron northwest Austin, about 45 minutes from Marble Falls and 30 minutes from Dripping Springs. The area is served by Lake Travis schools, which are excellent. Bee Cave is also in the Hill Country and is very close to Lake Travis.
Growth in western Travis County, which is where Bee Cave is located, has been and will continue to be huge. Bee Cave is the new home of the Shops at the Galleria, a 500,000 square foot retail shopping center. Across the highway is the brand new Hill Country Galleria Mall. In Lakeway and Bee Cave there have been somewhere around 15 new banks opened over the last 2-3 years. A new regional medical center is on the map in Lakeway. Can you see why Bee Cave is booming?
There are not a lot of homes in Bee Cave, but the majority are in three subdivisions. Spanish Oaks is a very upscale and gated golf community. Falconhead is a nice neighborhood built around an excellent public golf course. The Homestead, the oldest Bee Cave neighborhood, is an area of homes sitting on acreage. Falconhead West is about to begin development. A Hilton Hotel complex will be included in this new development.
