Breakaway Park is an aviation community in the Cedar Park Zip Code 78613 with a 3,000 foot long private airstrip. The community is only about 20 minutes from downtown Austin, making it quite convenient to the city. Breakaway Park not only features an airstrip, but residences on home sites of an acre or more
Fascinating to me is the street names because they are Alaskan names – Denali, Talkeetna, Kodiak, etc. It turns out that the man who developed Breakaway Park, Walter Yates, made a documentary about exploring the Alaskan wilderness after living off the land there for a year there. He named the movie Breakaway. Walter wanted to have a community in which he and his neighbors could spend the winter with their planes in their back yards. That is just what Breakaway Park became.
To get to Breakaway Park from Austin, take Parmer north and turn left on Denali. Take a look at Breakaway Park homes for sale below.
