Brown Herman is a small, but very exclusive, central Austin just across and west of Mopac from BrykerWoods. Like much of this part of Austin, Brown Herman is a well established neighborhood that was developed in the 1950s.
The neighborhood, located in northern Tarrytown, is bordered by Lake Austin on the west, Lake Austin Blvd. on the south, Mopac Expressway on the east and W. 35th St. on the north.
If you look at the price per square foot, Brown Herman is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Austin. Neighborhood amenities include picnic areas, tennis courts, a volleyball pit, a playground for the kids and hike and bike trails.
Via Mopac Expressway, residents of this Austin neighborhood have quick access to downtown Austin to the south and also to upscale shopping at the Arboretum and the Domain to the north.
