Where is Lakeway?
Lakeway is physically west of Austin in the Hill Country. Drive time to downtown Austin is 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and weather. Once a peaceful retirement community, Lakeway is now more self-sustaining and balanced. There really isn't much of a need to go into Austin except for specialty shopping and soon there won't be a need for that. The Shops at the Galleria provide 500,000 feet of retail business and the Hill Country Galleria Mall opened last fall. This is all within 10 minutes of Lakeway in the Village of Bee Cave.
Lakeway Ameneties
Lakeway is home to three marinas - the Lakeway Marina, Hurst Harbor Marina and Rough Hollow Marina and Yacht Club. Each marina offers something unique. Rough Hollow is very exclusive, Hurst Harbor is more casual and the Lakeway Marina is very convenient to anyone owning Lakeway real estate. Lakeway is also home to a private airpark. There are homes with hangars along several streets, making it great for private pilots.

The Lakeway City Park, a Lake Travis waterfront park, has hiking trails, play areas for kids, picnic areas and a sandy beach. Covering 64 acres, this is a great place to go on the weekends or after school or work. The Lakeway City Park offers movies in the park during summer months. Lakeway also has two several very nice greenbelts and hiking trails. The trails are great for simple walks and also include some primitive trails for the more hardy explorers.
A significant addition to Lakeway will be the Lakeway Regional Medical Center. It is under construction and should open in April of 2012. This will bring a 24 hour emergency room, surgeons, cardiac care and much more to Lakeway.
Buying Lakeway Real Estate
Single-family homes in Lakeway have ranged in price most recently from around $250,000 to over $3,000,000 for Lakeway waterfront homes. Condominiums in Lakeway tend to start at lower price points than single-family homes, but there are some stunning and more expensive waterfront condos as well.

Lakeway home owners aserved by the Lake Travis Independent School District. The schools are very good. At the high school level, students excel academically, in music, sports, theater and more. Students are also strongly encouraged to engage in community service. This is true also at the middle school level.
