My November pick of the month is The Iguana Grill. Located across from Hudson Bend Middle School on RR 620, the Iguana sits on a cliff overlooking Lake Travis. The Iguana Grill is a great place to sit back and enjoy a cocktail and a casual meal as the sun sets over Lake Travis.
I first discovered the Iguana Grill quite a few years ago. Over the last few years some nice improvements have been made. One fitting for this time of year is garage type doors that can enclose part of the patio dining area. Diners still get the great sunset views without having to brave the cold rains that fall at times.

The Photo to above is looking to the west from the Iguana Grill. Imagine the setting sun as you look out in this direction.
The Iguana serves a pretty good variety of Mexican food. If you have kids, there is a kid-friendly menu as well. Although the food is good, it is as much about the view as it is about the food. The Iguana has live music at times, but music is a seasonal thing as the stage is outside.
The Iguana Grill is located at 2900 RR 620 South. It is on the west side of RR 620 around 3-5 minutes south of Mansfield Dam. If you are coming from the south, it is around 5-10 minutes from the corner of 620 and Hwy 71 where the new Hill Country Galleria Mall is. The Iguana is open 7 days a week from 11:00AM to 10:00PM.
The photo to below shows the view looking north over a full Lake Travis.

If you are at the Iguans in the evening and sit by the fence, you will probably see raccoons coming up to look for dropped chips. If you put a couple of chips just under the fence on the floor and sit still, they will come right up and take them. The little critters don’t seem to venture on to the floor itself, but they can be seen if you care to look.
I hope you will find this item useful. Look for another to come in December and more in future months. Also, if you know of someone who new to the area who may like to get these, just send a name and address or have them contact me directly.
