South central Austin felt a bit far out from the downtown Austin area when I moved here back in 1987.  As such, homes were very affordable there.  As the city has expanded to the north and south, this area has felt much closer to downtown and home values have risen.  With access to high speed highways to both the east and west as well as some major roads to get to the high speed highways, getting to downtown Austin or points south is pretty quick.  Take a look at some south central Austin neighborhoods below.
