Traffic congestion at the intersection of 71 and 290 (the Y) in Oak Hill has been problematic for a long time.  290 was expanded a while ago to ha igh speed, 6 lane highway a few years ago.  The problem is that the high speed road ended just before the Y.  There is a proposal out now to improve the interchange to beyond the Y.  Part of the interchange that would be built sits over Williamson Creek and this has a lot of people concerned.  The new road would also require the removal of many native oak trees.  This also has people upset.

With the massive growth expected toward Dripping Springs and beyone, this intersection needs to be fixed.  Traffic is expected to grow and grow as more homes are built to the west.  My feeling is that if the engineering is done properly, this deal will go through.  I think that is what most people probably wan, but they also want the creek to be protected.
