The Shady Grove RV Park on Barton Springs Road has been an Austin fixture since the 1940s.  It is currently home to abour 40 residents.  The RV park is home to some huge pecan trees that have been there a very long time.  By the RV park are some of Austin's favorite restaurants, Shady Grove and Chuy's.  Developers have salivated over the RV park for a long time.  It is a bit southwest of downtown Austin and just east of Zilker Park.  The owner turned down many offers before settling on the current one to change the Shady Grove RV Park into luxury cond development.  Many people in town hate the idea of losing the RV park.  It has a sort of icon status.  But with the land being so incredibly valuable, the time had to come one day for it to disappear from the Austin landscape.
