New Austin MLS Map
I went to the site I have bookmarked for the official Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Austin MLS map and I couldn't access it without logging into ABoR. When I logged in I saw that I could access either the old Austin MLS map or the new Austin MLS map. In other words, the ABoR version of the Austin MLS map isn't available to the general public - yet.
I logged into Tempo, which is the software ABoR members use to search and enter listings and looked at MLS areas. They have not changed yet in that system. So it looks like the change is about to happen, but it has not yet.
So now you're wondering what the big deal is. I'll give you a couple of examples as to why the new Austin MLS map makes more sense than the existing one. Take area 4 for example. This is an area that covers the area from downtown between IH 35 and MOPAC from Town Lake through the UT campus and into neighborhoods north of the campus. I don't know about you, but I understand that real estate in downtown is just a bit different than condos and homes around UT. The new map will split the current area 4 into 4, UT and DT.
Another example is the areas covering Lake Travis. The current Austin MLS map shows LN and LS for the area north of Lake Travis and the south side of Lake Travis. The new map will split this into 4 areas. This makes a lot of sense as LS and LN are currently way too broad.
There are other changes as well. If you have any questions about the new Austin MLS map, please email me.
