Realestate Agents are Changing the English Language
Is that a strange title for a real estate blog? Probably... I was checking my website stats this morning to see what search terms have been used to find it. One that wasn't hugely popluar, but that was used fairly often was "Austin realestate." It made me think about how real estate professionals have created new words. I've seen back yard become backyard, single-wide become sglwide, hot tub become hottub and a variety of others. So just why is this? I have several theories... The first is that people are either in a huge hurry as they enter listings. The second has to do with how many words or characters you can enter in the MLS in the description firld. That would explain combined words and strange spelling. In either case, words like realestate and hottub sort of make real estate professionals not look so professional after all.
