Austin Grows UP
There are a lot of high-rise condominium, apartment and mixed use buildings that are planned for the downtown Austin area. I posted a little about this a few weeks ago when I wrote about a 55 story condo tower being planned for downtown Austin. The planned high-rise developments will literally change the landscape of downtown Austin if they all actually get built. Even if all of them don't, the downtown Austin skyline will look very, very different.
Over 20 high-rises have been announced. Here are a few highlights for you:
The Milago on Town Lake will rise 13 stories and have 240 units. The Monarch will be a 24-story luxury rental high-rise with phenomenal view of downtown and Town Lake. The Gables Park Plaza will contain 100 condos and 314 rental units as well as 40,000 feet of retail and 20,000 feet of office space. Spring will rise 36 stories and will have 220 condominiums. The Presidio at Judges Hill will be a 44-story condo tower. 501 Congress will be a 47-story building with 925,000 feet of space for offices, condo, stores and a private club. 360 will be a 44-story structure with 433 residential units as well as ground floor space for retail and restaurant space, rising 580 feet.
Just to put things in perspective, the tallest building in Austin right now is the Frost Bank tower, which rises 34 stories. With the artsy structure on top of the building, it stands just over 515 feet tall.
