The Domain is a huge development in north central Austin that will bring huge changes to the area.  The location currently has warehouses and old other buildings as well as a lot of pavement for parking.  What this area will turn into will be a massive area of offices, retail and other space including what may be structures up to around 30 stories. 

There has been a lot happening in downtown Austin with the development of high-rise condo projects, but the Domain is the first development that will bring high-rises into other parts of the city.  Current height restrictions prevent buildings over a certain height from going in to areas like this, but the city looks to be favoring a change to that. 

The area in which the Domain will be built already has the infrastructure needed to do this kind of development.  The city feels that this is a good location in which to build such a development. The alternative would be to take what is now undeveloped land and take city services to it.  The Domain will eventually take over an area that will be centered close to the intersection of Burnet Rd. and W. Braker Lane.
