Mueller Airport Redevelopment

What used to be a lot of concrete is tuning into homes, town square and mixed use area.  The old Robert Mueller airport in Austin is seeing serious change.  With one end bordering Interstate 35, the area consists of 709 acres.  Just minutes from downtown, this could be a very hot area for real estate in central Austin.

In addition to a town square, the Mueller project will be very friendly to walkers.  There will be employment and entertainment areas.  The project will also have over 100 acres of open space for the public to enjoy.

The homes going in will be row houses, garden court houses and yard houses.  Prices will range from around $180,000 up over $600,000.  Sizes are to be from around 900 square feet to 3700 feet.

This is also a development that will be attractive to buyers who can’t afford the expensive homes.  Over 20% of the 4600 residential units to be built will be lower cost homes.  Called Affordable Homes, these homes will range from about $120,000 to around $160,000.

The mixes use area  include retail shops, office, hospital and film production space.  In fact, the new 480,000 square foot Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.  This will be a 4-story children’s medical facility on about 32 acres with a 3 acre Healing Garden.  The hospital looks to be completed late this year.

When the Mueller development is completed, it is expected to be home to around 10,000 people.
