Villa Muse Studios was announced recently.  This is a huge project just east of Austin that will have a major film production facility and a huge amphitheater with 70,000 seats.  Austin currently doesn’t have a place in which to hold really large music events, but it looks like one is on the way.

The production facility would include filmmaking, television, advertising, gaming.  The architectural rendering shows the studios to surround the outdoor amphitheater, helping to dampen the noise from the amphitheater.

Also included in this 681 acre development will be housing for around 8500 people.  There is the potential for prospective buyers that their home would be part of a movie set.  Other space in the development is supposed to be mixed use and green space.

Central Texas has been the home for a number of movies, but it has lacked the kind of facilities to really put it on the map.  Some of the movies and TV programs made in the Austin area include The Alamo, Friday Night Live, the Lonesome Dove TV miniseries, Piranha, Red-Headed Stranger, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Miss Congeniality and Spykids.  That list is likely to bet much longer after Villa Muse is up and running.
