There was an article in the paper today about a company that moved to Austin for ribs, brisket and technical talent.  Wincor Noxdorf is a company from Germany that makes things like ATMs that can take bulk check deposits.  Not something you hear about every day, is it?  It seems that they moved their U.S. headquarters, as well as some office space and call center operations, to Austin in 1999.  They must like it here because they just added more space.  What I thought was funny was the statement about having a very computer-savvy population and the importance of rib houses and brisket.  I've heard of plenty of high-tech companies that moved here, opened offices here or were born here because of the highly educated work force, but this is the first time I heard smoked meats being a reason!
