In case you haven't been paying attention, there is a tropical storm entering the Gulf of Mexico.  Called Dolly, the storm appears to be heading for south Texas, but will the state see significant rain?

With a ridge of high pressure beginning to settle over the state, the winds will be from the northeast and this will should deflect Dolly to the south.  However, it looks at this early date that south Texas cound get some beneficial rain.  That area is "severely dry" right now.  Too much rain could be a problem, but even that might be welcome.

The Austin appears to be far enough away from the storm track so that if we get rain it will be from the outer bands of the storm.  If Dolly intensifies, which is likely, our rain chances will improve.

Although it doesn't like we will get much relief from the drought in Austin, we may get a day of two with a break from the heat.  Our area has already hit 100 degrees 30 days this year.  That is 13 more days than we average for an entire year.  For our friends in Canada and other countries, that is just shy of 38 degrees Celcius.
