Who has it?  Austinhomesearch dot com doesn't.  Many agent sites don't have a great search feature.  Some brokerage sites don't have good property search pages.  Some individual agents have had custom online home searches built.  My Austin real estate website has what I feel is an excellent search feature.  Is it the best Austin online home search?  I don't know - I'd rather have my visitors be the judge of that.  Check out my Austin home search page and tell me what you think.

What makes this a great property search page?  For one thing, you can search by map.  Users can zoom in and out as well as being able to click the map and drag it to an area in which they want to look.  People can search by school district, subdivision and other criteria.  Of course there are the standard things like property type (home, condo, lease, commercial...), number of bedrooms, price range, waterfront and other criteria, but it gets better.  A user can build a search and save it to come back to later.  In fact, a user can build a number of searches to come back to.  When a user sees a listing she likes, she can save it in a folder marked favorites.  If the status of the listing changes, that change will be noted.  If the listing sells or is taken off the market, it will disappear from the favorites folder.

From what I have seen and read, most people looking for Austin real estate start looking online many months before actually looking in person.  They usually go to a real estate website and search for months before looking at much of anything else on the site.  When they start getting serious and the time to look in person draws near, many people will then do more research on my site or on others.  They will look at schools, recreation, information about Lake Travis and many other things.  My Austin real estate website has many pages dedicated to giving people information and resources about moving to the Austin and Lake Travis area.  Many people have found the site to be a really good resource.  However, even with all of the information available on the site, people start with the search page.  If you are using it, I hope it is working well for you.  If you have questions, give me a call at 512-293-2422.
