The Austin area and much of Central Texas cooled off recently with a welcome string of rainy days.  The area picked up anywhere from 1 to 14 inches of rain over about a 4 day period.  A lot of rain fell in the area that drains into Lake Travis, but the ground was so incredibly dry, the lake came up only about one foot.  Aside from the desperately needed rain, it was wonderful having temperatures in the 80s.  Austin had almost 70 days over 100 degrees this summer.  That compares to an average of just 11.

Cooler temperatures and September also mean the return of football.  The two teams I am following most closely are the Lake Travis High School team and the Longhorns.  LT is rolling and looking unstoppable again.  The Horns looked like a high school team during the first half against Wyoming, but turned things on in the second half.  If they want to end up as BCS Champs, they need to show more inspired play.

Fall also means the slowing down of real estate sales.  Having said that, my business has actually picked up.
