Aqua what?  AquaPalooza is basically a huge concert/party on a body of water.  Picture hundreds and hundreds of boats tied together with people in the water and in the boats partying while live music is performed.  AquaPalooza is put together by Sea Ray and its dealers.  The Austin and San Antonio dealers will sponsor the 2010 Lake Travis event.

The 2010 AquaPalooza will be on Lake Travis at the new community of The Reserve at Lake Travis.  The Reserve is on a bend in the lake and there is a nice grassy area by the outdoor pavilion and that is where I expects the stage to be.  One thing the event coordinators must be breathing a sigh of relief is the level of Lake Travis.  Lake Travis was horribly low last summer, but it has come up over 45 feet since then.

AquaPalooza has been going on since 2006.  In 2009, AquaPalooza had around 15,000 boats and over 84,000 people attend events across the country as well as in Austria and Australia.  Will Lake Travis live up to other huge events?  My guess is that it will, as long as one thing doesn’t happen.  With the lake back to normal, any heavy rain event could flood and close it.  That is the only reason I can think of that would mess up the Lake Travis AquaPalloza.

So you’re wondering who will be playing.  So are many others.  Alan Jackson headlined one in 2009.  The Carter Twins, Caitlin & Will, Jypsi and Matt Stillwell also performed at that event.  If you don’t have a boat, you won’t be able to see this free concert on Lake Travis.  If you really want to, rent something early or find a friend with a boat.

Update on June 30:  Aquapalooza planners must be breathing easier knowing that the path of Hurricane Alex is such that it is unlikely that Lake Travis will see any threat of flooding.
