People Keep Moving to Texas According to U-Haul
U-Haul International recently released its report called "The 2009 Top 50 U.S. Destination Cities." This list is released annually and is interesting to watch. After compiling data from people who moved using their equipment, U-Haul released a list of top moved-to cities and Texas had 4 on the list.
Of the top 0, Houston claimed the top spot on the list with Las Vegas coming in second, which was increase from #4 from the year before. Chicago moved up from #7 to #3 and San Antonio went from #8 to #4. Austin went from # 5 from #9. Atlanta, Orlando, Sacramento, Kansas City and Denver followed in that order.
Is this report accurate? Well it is for U-Haul. U-Haul is a huge renter of moving trucks and trailers, but it is not the only business in that industry. There are other rental businesses like U-Haul and plenty of moving companies like Atlas and Mayflower. I would love to see stats from those and other movers.
Having said that, Texas continues to be high on all sorts of list regarding best-of and top-spots-for-this-and-that and other lists and there is good reason for this. Our economy is better than most other states, the cost of living is relatively low, we actually have jobs and we don’t tax people to death like some other states do. The weather is also attractive to many people who have lived in the north for a while.
