Lakeway may be the home of a new H-E-B grocery store.  Apparently there are talks underway between H-E-B and the developer of a tract at the corner of Serene Hills and Hwy 71.  The city of Bee Cave won't be happy if this happens as the H-E-B at the corner of 71 and Bee Cave Rd. is one of the city's largest tax revenue generators.  Lakeway would love it because of the additional tax revenue the grocery store would bring that city.  The other huge new source of tax revenue for Lakeway will be the Lakeway Regional Medical Center, which should come on line in 2012.

My thought is that residents of Lakeway  and The Village of The Hills would welcome a new H-E-B.  Taking Serene Hills from Lakeway Blvd. or Flint Rock Rd. would be a great alternative to driving 620 to Randall's or 71 to the H-E-B in Bee Cave.  If would also give great access to groceries for new residents in Rough Hollow and would bring Briarcliff and Spicewood a few minutes closer to a major grocery store.
