OK, this post has nothing to do with Austin or real estate, but I want to share it with anyone with a Boy Scout in the family or with a Scouting background.  I was ai Boy Scout in Texas and Alaska.  While in Alaska, I saw some amazing places and had some amazing experiences and adventures.  I have wanted to find a way to share my stories with Scouts because back in the 1970s when I was a Scout in Alaska, things were almost primitive compared to today.

So I started a hub on Hubpages about my adventures in Alaska with the Scout Troop and outside of Scouting.  There are only a few stories now, but I will add to the hub over time and I really hope some Scouts discover these stories.  One is about sleeping outside in a winter shelter our troop built when the air temperature dropped to 44 below zero.  One was about a marauding black bear that invaded our summer camp and how the Native Alaskan Scouts took it out and what thet did with the bear after it had been shot.  Another is about a cross country skiing race up a glacier and camping out overnight before skiing down the glacier the next day.

I'm having to dig pretty deep into my memories and I hope I am telling things as they actually happened, but it is kind of fun reliving these experiences.  As Scouts and Scoutmasters read these I hope they will email the link to the site to other Scouts and Scoutmasters.

Sam's Eagle Scout Award

Scouting was a great experience for me.  I earned the rank of Eagle Scout while in Alaska and there just couldn't have been a better place to have done that.  Read about my Scouting and Alaskan Adventures and if you liek the stories please share them with any Scouting families you know.
